Cash Incentives

There has never been a better time to take on an apprentice with support from COPA Apprenticeships, CITB, and the Government.

An employer can receive grants for attendance and achievement on approved Apprenticeships in England.

£3,000 Government Incentive payment for Apprentices

Employers with newly hired apprentices who have an employment start date between 1 April 2021 and 30 September 2021 and who also have a practical training period start date between 1 April 2021 and 30 November 2021 may be eligible for an incentive payment.

  • Employers will receive £3,000 for new apprentices of any age
  • Employers must apply for these apprentices by the end of 30 November 2021
  • The incentive payment is in addition to the £1,000 employers already receive for hiring an apprentice

Travel and Accommodation Funding

CITB are widening the support offer for employers with apprentices who have to 'Travel to Train'.

They will fund 80% of accommodation costs for eligible apprentices of grant eligible employers who attend colleges or training providers where overnight stays and travel to and from a hotel to a place of training are required.

Employers can also claim excess costs for apprentice travel where the cost exceeds £30 per week.

Find out more about "Travel to Train" on the apprenticeship travel and accommodation and funding page
